Traffic, especially in urban locations, is one of the greatest contributors to air pollution. Traffic produces a variety of pollutants that include particulates, NO2, NO, CO, hydrocarbons and in some cases SO2.
Monitoring around large road infrastructure projects (e.g. traffic tunnels, major road projects) often requires baseline air quality measurements during construction and compliance monitoring of ambient and tunnel stack emissions after opening, as well as in-tunnel visibility and gas monitoring. Environmental impacts from construction projects may also require measurement of water quality, blast & vibration and noise usually in conjunction with meteorological parameters.
ECOTECH has been actively involved in the vast majority of road tunnel projects in Australia and around the globe. In most cases our supply includes a comprehensive compliant turn-key monitoring solution including design, manufacture, installation, commissioning, operation, maintenance, calibration, data acquisition, data validation and reporting services in accordance with NATA accreditation to suit the regulatory monitoring requirements.
The monitoring of roadside pollution can be challenging as often it is difficult to find suitable locations for large air quality monitoring systems in densely populated urban locations. Roadside pollution concentrations can change quickly as types and volume of traffic changes and so instrumentation used must be able to cope with these rapidly changing conditions.
ECOTECH has established a wide variety of roadside monitoring stations from compact monitoring shelters right up to large walk-in style shelters tailored to your needs. ECOTECH’s compact solution uses a compact monitoring shelter fitted out with a variety of analysers and particulate monitors. These analysers offer fast response, minimal maintenance and are widely used for roadside monitoring.
